Starting this Sunday, December 20 until at least January 10, all those who want to participate in River Park Church Services should do so by Zoom.
If a person is unable to access the service using technology available, you can inquire for an exemption to attend in person by emailing email@example.com.
We know that this is a special season and that these restrictions add to what has already been difficult months. Thank you for your understanding in this matter and we look forward to the day where we can all meet again in person.
This Sunday Pastor Gary Bomhof will be providing the message “The road King Herod took to obliterate any perceived threat to his power. Christmas is a time when joy, family gatherings, dreaming of a White Christmas and peace are emphasized. But it is also a time when loneliness and sorrow rise to prominence. Certainly, in the story of Rachel Weeping, this is emphasized. Based on Matthew 2: 1-20.
We will also partake in Communion. Please have your elements prepared.
The phrase “All roads lead to Rome” indicates the importance of that Italian city as the greatest economic, legal, powerful and most influential entity that the world had even known. But the Bible indicates that actually “all roads lead to Bethlehem”. Micah 5:2 reads, “but you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will rule over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times”.
We will explore this notion during the coming weeks of Advent.
Please note, a Christmas Eve service is being planned for Thursday, Dec. 24 at 5:00 pm
Finally on December 27, again using Matthew 2 we examine the road from the East on which the Magi journeyed to find and worship the newborn king.
