Our worship events start at 10am on Sunday mornings and end between 11:10-11:30 am. People generally gather by 9:45 am on Sunday. If you arrive by car at River Park Church (3818 14A Street), you can park in the main parking lot across from the church facility or along the street. We are also conveniently on the bus line. Our front doors open into a large, well-lit gathering space. Some friendly people (we call them “greeters”) are likely there to say hello, to answer any questions you have, and to direct you to the auditorium.
We welcome families with children and there are a variety of programs and ways to include them. Every Sunday we have a nursery for infants and toddlers from newborn to age 2. During the school year there Sunday School classes for children through grade 6, meeting during the adult worship time. In the summer, classes for preschoolers continue, but we invite the older kids to stay with their families in the auditorium. We provide sermon pages and children’s bulletins to help them engage with the worship service.
We worship in response to God. Our worship is framed by our conviction that in Jesus Christ, God came to the human race to reconcile us to Himself. In the Holy Spirit, God continues to live among and through us.
Our congregation spans the generations and includes people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. People dress comfortably, in anything from “office casual” to jeans and sneakers.
When you enter the auditorium, you’ll be given a copy of “the bulletin” which includes announcements and an agenda for the day’s service. Our services begin with songs of praise to God – both contemporary and traditional. We continue with prayer, Scripture teaching, more songs and time to share bits about our lives. For decades our congregation has enjoyed serving others both in Calgary and far away. You’re likely to hear a short report about refugee support, service to seniors, or disaster response projects. Our offering time gives us the opportunity to financially support such projects and guests are welcome to join in, but shouldn’t feel like they need to contribute.
After the service, we hope you’ll stay around, meet some people and enjoy coffee or tea. Church is about God and worship, but it’s also about community and friendship, so we hope people really experience warmth and friendliness at River Park Church.
